Last year, I wrote about how great
Surf N Turf 2008 was. I could not imagine we would have been able to top that in terms of fun and borderline craziness.
Enter Surf N Turf 2009.
Where to start? From the build of the Taj Mahal to the jump competition, the beach cuisine to the night dune runs...there was never a dull moment aside from the few hours of sleep that were needed in order to kickstart the energy at sunrise.
T…

Can't say enough about this lift! Quality of the build and fit were great. I ended up installing it one night by myself, which made it more difficult than with another hand, so considering that it was pretty straight forward. In fact I may have gotten away without using a spring compressor had I had help. Only complaint was that Toytec used different sized bolts (13 instead of 12mm if I remember) for the front skid plate - it gets dropped with the drive line so you get spacers and longer bolts.…

Round two this weekend, still have all the camp gear to clean and put away. The FJ still needs some cleaning love as well, I'm thinking of taking the leaf blower to the interior to get it dust free.

Ok so like many of you who have been on a sponsered trail event you may have received a Bike tool in one of your goodie bags. I have gotten two of them and I thought grea,t what a useless tool to have. I mean I have not ridden a bike in years. (ok I know I could use the exercise, but lets stay focused). So what in the world will I do with two of these useless tools. Labor day weekend I got my answer. We went camping and I wanted to bring along Anthony's bike so he would have something to ride wh…

Most of us see FJs on the road everyday, but it's rare when you see an FJer you know through the forums. For me, there has only been a few instances so far:
Date: July 15, 2007
FJer:
LandCruiserSteve (from the Blue Room)
Location: Tusayan, AZ
Situation: I ran into Steve and his wife in Tusayan right after the inaugural FJ Cruiser Summit. My buddy and I were looking for the campgrounds just outside of the strip when we see this Sun Fusion rolling by the other way. We both waved and…

Have we got just the best crew of people or what. Not only do we drive the coolest rigs out there but we are always trying to give back in some way or another. I was just thinking about how much fun we all seem to have when we are out in a group. It really does not matter what we do or where we are we always seem to have a great time. Then last weekend I meet some real cool So-Cal people down south to add to the mix of great pople. I guess with the new baby on the way I will not be around all th…

Well, i've been wanting to do this for nearly two years now, and i finaly found the time, (or should i say made the time) to get everything installed. I have to say these are by far the best mods i've done. While sitting in some traffic, i heard the CHP chatting about a car they were looking for, then in the same traffic jam i had a nice little conversation with a couple truckers. Nice way to kill some time! And this isn't counting the real benifit of finaly being able to comunicate with trail g…

I dunno. Why do people post up personaly crap about there life and the get mad when they here somthing they don't want to hear? At what point do you stop feeling sorry for them and figure out that they just want sympathy? I mean, don't get me wrong. There are some instances were some people just need to vent (basicly like me now). But somtimes its just apparent that they need to be in the spot light. An what gets me the most is people fall for this!
I dunno. Maybe i'm just reading into things to…

Ok the wife and I had the first ultrasound done on the baby yesterday and it was amazing!! WE got to see the little one rolling around and moving in there. WE saw the heart beat and all kind of stuff being developed.. Pretty cool stuff !! Seeing that heart beat makes it all very real, kind of scary, and exciting all at the same time.. WE will keep you updated as to what is going on next !!

Well, it's been over a week since the whirlwind that was Surf N Turf 2008 and I'm still craving for more.
From the detailed organization of getting 16 trucks down to the dunes in a single caravan to the organized chaos that enveloped the night runs, Surf N Turf 2008 proved to be quite an event to remember. In fact, the only thing that would have made it better was banana chocolate chip pancakes on Sunday morning.
Many thanks are in order to everyone who represented NorCal. Every individual con…

As autumn creeps towards winter, the ol' FJ will slowly begin its transition from trail bus to snow shuttle. The crossbars mounted with the gas tank tray will be replaced by the crossbars mounted with the 'board rack and the rear seats will be re-installed to accommodate more passengers for trips up to the slopes.
I'm hoping the FJ sees a lot of snow this year. The past few years, I've been regulated to less than 10 snow days each and that has sucked. As a result, I'm resurrecting an old tradit…

Wow what a summer and fall it has been so far. I mean I started off the summer with a stock FJ that was over loaded with all the crap I bring camping.. To having a 3" lifted , 33ed, budbuilded, machine. That was still over loaded with all the crap I bring camping... Well I guess some things will never change, Man I need a trailer.. But I digress, I was looking at and thinking about what mod I want to do to the FJ next when, BANG! the wife tells me to go look in the bathroom at the test she just…

So I went to my favorite bar in the South Bay in my
FJ for a nice drink and to people (ok, girl) watch. I used to know a cocktail waitress there who used to be a former Gold Rush cheerleader. She was nice and we had some great conversations that went beyond the normal small talk between waitress and patron. She took a full-time job and left and I was left cheerleader-less.
Then I met another cocktail waitress there that was a current Gold Rush cheerleader. I would run into her at Draft D…

The 2008 National Summit ended today and I can only imagine all the fun the attendees experienced this year.
After attending last year's summit, I decided that I would attend every other year from now on. As much fun as I had, the two day drive each way was a bit much. Sure, you could technically do the drive in one long day by switching drivers and such, but you'd also be missing out on a lot of great scenery and national parks along the way.
So as soon as the new dates are set and Ouray, CO…
