Looking to buy some new tires and what better place to get input. I will be driving in rain on the freeway and snow . My rig is also my daily driver so what would you guys put on your rigs. And if anyone has a extra set they want to get rid of hit me up. Thanks.
NOT...i run the KM2s and have had them on for a bit over 50k miles and have wheeled with it... they have lasted and still have over 65% thread. I love them. And BTW i run that size tire.
I have my own little question, and I'm sure it will help Knuckles too... out of BFG, ProComp, and Goodyear, which is the cheapest? I'm a big BFG person, but the prices kill me.
i'm happy with my Bridgestone Dueler Revos, although my sidewalls had some peeling issues with this last batch. However, I am still planning to go with their upgraded version, the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2, which is a little more aggressive than its predecessor and has been enhanced for off-roading.
considering my on-road/off-road ratio is approximately 96/4, i chose an AT. it saves gas, is quieter and handles off-road obstacles at my skill level just as well as any of the others. also, they do very well in rain and snow. i swapped out my first set (upgraded to a larger size) at about 45,000 miles and they still had very good tread on them (even sold them for a decent price), so the wear is good.
that being said, there are always the negatives. it would be nice if they had a more aggressive look and had heavy duty sidewalls.
you'll see a lot of varying opinions on all the tires, so take a look at what your needs are and be willing to sacrifice a little bit whether it be performance or looks. if you take all those things into account, you'll find the right tire for you. and if it turns out that you don't like your choice, i'm sure someone on this forum will gladly take them off your hands. :-)
I like the BFG ATs. Been driving on them for years. I have 41K on mine now and looks like I could get another 20 to 30k. The other FJ in the family went to KM2. He loves them, not to much noise but is worried about wear down.
I have a $100 off coupon for a set of four tires at American Tire if you want it. We shopped hard for the KM2s and ended up with American for service and price.
America's Tire Co and Discount tire co are the same thing.. 2 companies merged and keeping their identities. look at pizza cutter sizes, better gas mileage and cheaper too... you can try sizes like 235/85/16 or 255/85/16 ...These are sizes that I have seriously considered for their traction, height, and weight.
